CPT Testing on Railroad Track

May 10th, 2010

One of our clients, Hoogveld Sonderingen from Wierden, Holland, has fitted his 100 kN CPT crawler (built in 2009 by Gouda-Geo) with a special undercarriage making the unit suitable for road, rough terrain and rail. The crawler is also equipped with polyurethane track shoe protectors. This makes the unit extremely versatile.

Cone Penetration Tests on railroad tracks are carried out mostly during the night. The crawler can approach the railroad autonomously and install itself on the rails without help of a crane. The caterpillar tracks with polyurethane protectors assure the moving of the crawler over the rails without damaging them.
