Flushing Head for Nearshore CPT Testing

When Cone Penetration Tests are being conducted near-shore, the friction between the CPT sounding tubes and the casing tubes tends to increase considerably. Furthermore, seabed sand has the tendency to get into the stand-pipe via the casing cutting shoe, increasing the frictional resistance as well.
By order of one of our customers Gouda-Geo has developed a flushing head for the casing tubes making it possible to inject water into the casing tubes. This reduces friction contributing to the max. CPT testing depth that can be reached.
The flushing heads in the picture are still in prototype stage and are currently being tested in practice.
