In Memoriam! Gerard Frieling
June 4th, 2019This morning my colleague Stefan Zwart informed me that our former colleague Gerard Frieling passed away last week at the age of 81.
Gerard was the workshop manager at the Goudsche Machinefabriek (GMF) for many years. As a true chief with an eye for every detail he run the workshop and did he coach his staff to make equipment meeting the highest standards, his standards. In his so recognizable grey warehouse coat he supervised the manufacturing of CPT rigs and made the workshop run like clockwork. Gerard stood for calm and efficiency. It was always impressive to see a true craftsman at work. Even after his retirement he helped us out for a couple of weeks till a couple of months. The workshop was his biotope.
So if you have the privilege to own a 25 year old or even older GMF-built CPT rig, it is most certainly built under the supervision of Gerard. These rigs, if well maintained, were thanks to Gerard built for eternity. The same applies for Gerard; we will remind you for eternity.
