Nauerna - Testing the Impact of Traffic on Dikes

March 11th, 2011

Moving traffic has a huge impact on the underground and specially on dikes and embankments. In order to improve the analysis models simulating and predicting the impact of moving traffic, multiple real-life tests were conducted on a dike in Nauerna, The Netherlands.

Engineering Bureau Inpijn-Blokpoel conducted these test and contacted Gouda-Geo for the development and supply of special retrievable static pore pressure sensors and data acquisition equipment.

Inpijn-Blokpoel has placed the static pore pressure sensors using traditional CPT direct push technology. During a period of 3 weeks multiple tests were conducted. The results of these tests will contribute to the improvement of analysis models making the lowlands a safer place to live.
