New Crawler-Truck Delivered to Fugro
September 9th, 2014Fugro, world’s largest provider of geoscience services, has recently taken delivery of a brand-new 170 kN Crawler-Truck. Fugro decided to place the order for this new rig with Gouda-Geo because they were convinced of the excellent quality of our products, the flexibility of our design department and the high standard of our service.
Since the Crawler-Truck will be operated in Germany, where the max. vehicle weight for 2-axle trucks is limited to 18 T only, we had to design a truck that was even 1000 kg lighter than our ultra-light version. The fact that the truck had to meet the latest exhaust gas emission standards (Euro-6) imposed an additional challenge of 375 kg. And as you might expect from Gouda-Geo, compromising quality was not an option.
The Crawler-Truck is the latest addition to the extensive fleet of Fugro’s soil investigation rigs. The truck features, despite the weight restrictions, many innovations like an interactive touch-screen control panel, remote access to the computers for support purposes, a newly designed push-and-pull clamp, wireless remote control, the latest generation heavy-duty crawler undercarriage and nylon track shoes.
